Default Support-Loss Mitigation Specialist

The Default Support-Loss Mitigation Specialist is a liaison between clients and borrowers to review viable solutions to avoid Foreclosure proceedings. Our representatives are expected to provide exceptional servicing of mortgage loans and be able to identify eligible retention programs for the borrower such as a Modification, Short Sale, GNMA, FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, VA, and settlement options while ensuring compliance with mortgage holder guidelines and program-specific regulations. It is expected that our Account Representatives are also responsible for servicing or pushing loans from date of default through foreclosure sale, following FNMA guidelines as well as processing a bankruptcy portfolio from date of Bankruptcy filing to discharge in the event retention solutions are unavailable.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for foreclosure processing from date of default through foreclosure sale (judicial and non-judicial) to ensure compliance at all times
  • Responsible for pre foreclosure /due diligence review and complete foreclosure referral to attorney
  • Review of legal documents/affidavits prepared by foreclosure or bankruptcy counsel for accuracy prior to execution as well as preparing reinstatement, payoff and foreclosure sale bids when requested
  • Diligent review of loans assigned to attorneys to assure that milestones are being completed and attorneys are expediting the foreclosure or bankruptcy process to be completed within allowable state timelines as well as communicate any loss mitigation efforts and arrangements
  • Receive, validate and review new bankruptcy notifications and information for relevance and action needed and update all systems of records
  • Review bankruptcy plans for feasibility, mortgage modification mediation, and objection to protect investor’s interest
  • Review/approve pre/post-petition payments for application in addition to reconciling loan histories and payment ledgers
  • Communicate with borrowers and various third parties associated with real estate transactions relating to foreclosures/bankruptcies both inbound and outbound and educate them on loss mitigation options available to resolve their delinquency.
  • Negotiate and formalize agreements with borrowers in foreclosure when appropriate. This includes verifying arrears, formulating terms of repayment, drafting stipulated repayment agreements, and ensuring that the initial terms and conditions of the agreement are met
  • Document stipulated repayment terms to ensure the agreements can be monitored
  • Due diligence on transfer files to ensure that BSI has system and all information accounted for and accurate
  • Maintain current account status in all systems of records being used
  • Responsible for meeting both State and Federal legal requirements and following internal policies pertaining to default loan management

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate
  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent form two-year college preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with foreclosures, bankruptcies and legal accounts
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, FCRA, SCRA and GSE
  • Ability to pass all NMLS Licensing
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word
  • Sagent Knowledge Preferred

Work Hours:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Ability to sit for long periods of time is essential. This is a full- time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
