Mortgage Claims Specialist @ BSI Financial Services
Join BSI Financial Services as a Claims Specialist. The Claims Specialist is responsible for preparing, filing, and following up on all PMI, FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Investor claims timely and accurate according to investor/insurer guidelines. In addition, the Claims Specialist performs all tasks associated with the claim filing process, including compiling the documentation and information needed to prepare the claim, preparing the claim, filing the claim, and requesting final loan liquidation; and from claim preparation through incentive and claim proceeds received for completed loss mitigation workouts, and filing and tracking of early Fannie Mae claims to reduce the corporate advance expenses.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, in-office position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Prepares and files all FHA, VA, USDA, PMI, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and investor conveyances and claims timely and accurate according to investor/insurer guidelines and requirements.
- Prepares, files, and tracks all Fannie Mae Interim Claims.
- Follows up on all outstanding conveyance and claim proceeds.
- Performs a loan-level reconciliation for all claim proceeds between the amount claimed, the amount paid, and the outstanding loan indebtedness, including all escrow and corporate advances.
- Prepares and files supplemental claims and works with other departments related to vendor bill backs as needed.
- Provides posting instructions for all claim proceeds within 24 hours of the receipt of the claim proceeds.
- Ensures all loans are liquidated timely (0 principal balance) within 24 hours of receipt of the final claim proceeds.
- Reviews follow-up and ensures timely and accurate completion of all regularly scheduled steps, including outstanding /late stages in the foreclosure tracking templates pertaining to daily claims/post-foreclosure sale activities. Inputs the completion date on the date the action occurs.
- Obtains approval and modifies the scheduled date to a date in the future when a step in the process cannot be completed. Performs routine follow-up daily.
- Keeps manager informed of all trends and problems including, but not limited to, claim denials/curtailments, FHA reconveyance, FHA offsets, delays in getting properties in conveyance condition, and title problems resulting in title denial.
- Documents all servicing, action taken, delays, follow-up, and phone conversations in the system notes
- Monitors vendor performance and notifies manager of any consistent problems (vendors’ inability/failure to comply with investor/insurer procedures and/or BSI requirements)
- Ensures all claim documents are imaged timely.
- Keeps manager informed of all trends and problems, including losses and compliance problems that will create an “out of compliance” condition or expose BSI to any risk of exposure or liability.
- Assumes responsibility for the completion of assigned duties. Exercises authority required to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities and accepts full accountability for results achieved.
- Plans and schedules work to be performed efficiently and effectively; reduce costs where possible by improving methods and processes and eliminating non-essential and manual processes and activities.
- Learns new skills and expanded job knowledge to perform assigned duties better.
- Complies timely and accurately with instructions provided by the manager. If unable to meet a deadline, the deadline must be renegotiated before the initial deadline date.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned, including assisting other team members and management as needed.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- 6+ months of FHA, VA, USDA, PMI, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac claims experience required.
- Experience with Sagent/Loanserv or similar system
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, & Outlook
- Knowledge of Excel related to formulas, formatting, and data sorting
- Basic knowledge and experience with FHA, VA, USDA, PMI, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac default guidelines and requirements.
- Must be very detail-oriented and have excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all Investor/insurer servicing requirements for assigned duties.
- Willingness and aptitude for learning new tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and changing priorities
- Ability to work with all levels of individuals as a team player.
