Bankruptcy Specialist @ BSI Financial Services
Join BSI Financial Services as a Bankruptcy Specialist! The Bankruptcy Specialist is responsible for processing a bankruptcy portfolio from the date of a Bankruptcy filing to discharge.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a hybrid working position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Receive, validate, and input new bankruptcy notifications and update the BSI system of records
- Review incoming documentation for relevance and action needed
- Managing a bankruptcy portfolio through bankruptcy processes and queue management
- Review bankruptcy plans for feasibility, mortgage modification mediation, and objection to protect investor’s interest
- Manage work list to ensure bankrupt accounts are within compliance with Bankruptcy and company procedures
- Timely identification, analysis, and review of plan objections, adversary proceeds, cramdowns, and motions for relief from stay
- Aggressive follow-up and high touches, at minimum weekly, to ensure files are moving without delays.
- Handle inbound/outbound calls (as needed) as it relates to bankruptcy, ensuring compliance with the bankruptcy code
- Review/approve pre/post-petition payments for application
- Perform timely follow-up with attorneys and bankruptcy trustees, follow up time for hearings, discharges, and critical steps, and request referrals on delinquent bankruptcies and status updates
- Respond to written and verbal inquiries promptly.
- Develop and maintain relationships with bankruptcy attorneys, bankruptcy trustees, debtor's attorneys, and investors
- Complete referral to bankruptcy attorneys timely when needed
- Due diligence on in-flight bankruptcy transfer files to ensure that BSI has a system and all information is accounted for and accurate
- Responsible for reviewing the LoanSphere Invoice Management system for invoicing & Accuracy
- Responsible for meeting legal requirements and following internal policies
- Responsible for reconciling loan history and payment ledgers
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Proficient with PC and related software such as Excel & Word
- Sagent system experience is a plus
- 1-3 years of related experience in the bankruptcy industry required

- Understanding of mortgage terminology, risk, and compliance

- Works well in high-pressure, fast-paced environment
